tHEY CALL ME jOE but if i were slartibartfast, life would be more fun. works no fun, throwing out the garbage aint all the fun in this world either. but everything changed one day, maybe early september... the day i shot that grizzly bear in the ally just west of downtown. i decided that i'd bring my camera to work along with hotdogs and beer. nonetheless i couldn't forget about my troubles with the watchdog next door(i mean grizzly). the windy city aint no place for an alien, nor a grizzly for that matter. His speech antagonized all of the bums, i mean nomads trying to sleep next door with his rude sentence structure and lack of hitting the high notes. so one day they all gave it up and left the dog behind. let him live on watching the watchers watch as they pass through the alleys remembering the times they threw sandals, some with the souls still attached to the o.g. but one day he never gave the poor old men there sandals back and today i keep his heart next to mine.  gimme your sandals.

Photo Location: Canyonlands Utah October 19, 2007

Some friends and I had some time off from school and decided to head off to Moab for a four day stint in the Canyonlands. We got there after a long drive over the Rockies and packed into the heart of the land. There was no wind that night and the silence was incredible. As the sun set behind me I snagged the camera to capture the laid back moment. My comrades soon joined me.

"Hey bro see the rock on the left"

"Yeah man looks like layers of a cake"

"Bet the sunrise would look Rad from the top tomorrow morning"

"Especially with a fresh pot of tea"

"Sounds like a plan"...

"Do you hear that?"

"No… What" "Exactly man. That's the sound of nothing. The sound of a peaceful earth and a horizon waiting for us in the morning"

The next morning, we didn't just see, but experienced, the sunrise of a lifetime. I watched that brilliant ball of flame rise from the horizon with rope sandals and a bowl of tea.
