The Nomadic Times

A Non-committal Occasional Journal for Wandering Minds of the Planet looking to read sometimes or at least look at some pictures -or pretend to read.

Vol 2 • Issue 1 • April 2026

From the Desk of The Nomads

From the Desk of the Nomad editors at large:
Spring is creeping in and the road is starting to call again.
Around the Nomadic workshop we've been tying rope, testing trails,
and thinking about where these sandals might wander next.

Each month we’ll send a few stories, road notes,
and gear from the Nomadic world, or we'll give it an attempt; at least.

— We Nomads

Feature Story

The Original Nomadic times

Around 2004, Nomadic State of Mind was barely out of diapers in the world of sandal business, I had the idea to create a magazine on the road. I have so many creative and, I think, interesting friends, that I thought would want to share some of their knowledge, ideas, and art. What I didn't know was how difficult it would be to get people to submit their art, journals, poems or whatever random assignment I had tried to give. After almost pulling the plug numerous times, we finally got all the submissions and ran our first and only print of this journal.

We passed out about 10,000 of these journals, there was even a spot to mail in for a subscription we received about 5, and we sent all the checks back. We realized this project would be too challenging to our first goal: to get sandals on your feet. Fast forward 20+ years, we have all the travel journals, quotes, etc. from the road and we thought to start sharing them here. We'll see how it goes; feedback is priority. You can see some photos of the original print here; it's the blue copy before you print 10,000 copies, the blue print is for final edit.

This new project has no real intention but fun.

Necessities

for Nomads

An open mind and heart, and legs that like to walk, followed by some feet that can hold your weight.  A craft or skill or two to trade for food, shelter, or water- maybe ask Maslow. Wander on, Wookie.

Gear for the Road

Surf rugs

A surfboard made of rope is mounted on the wall above a bed.
Sometimes, it's time to chill, and one might find themselves in a house somewhere. Our surf rug wall or floor art keeps that spirit alive.  shop now

Nomads in the Wild

Sometimes our furry friends need some help, the mom wasn't letting the baby feed; we felt the need to intervene. Farm life.

WANTED

People who prefer dirt roads to test drive our new Wookie mobile. It's stench powered, so we're needing one of those Festifarians that still have all their festival bracelets on since last year...

FOUND

Powerful crystal, pink in color, radiates toward third eye  might have been a fuel log for ancient vehicles. Found in a vortex of Sedona.

MISSED MATCHES

You were in a pool hall in OB, in November. You had nice pants, but mine were better. You travel and leave your dog behind.

WHEN MY HUSBAND PASSED AND I HAD TO PACK UP AND SELL MY HOME AND MOVE INTO MY OFFICE LAST YEAR, SOME HOW THE TOTE WITH MY SUMMER SHOES ( 15 PAIR OF NOMADIC SANDALS!) WENT MISSING, NEVER TO BE FOUND. I LOOK FORWARD IN THE NEXT MONTH TO START REBUILDING MY NEW COLLECTION OF FOOT WEAR.
