Miley Cyrus, World Premiere of Something Beautiful- at the Beacon

I feel as though I am a professional at seeing live music, being blessed to have been on festival, grateful dead, phish, and panic tour on and off for so much of my life.  Always figuring out how to get in to a show, thank you for all the miracles.

Stoked. I was.  I have ever really seen a pop show, and my first one would be the only current pop star I know of well, Miley Cyrus at The Beacon- one of my favourite venues.  And how rad, the Beacon only holds 2300 people.  It could be awesome.  I got me and my 7 year old tickets, she was beyond stoked to go see Miley Cyrus.  I had watched Mileys tv show with both daughters, and submitted to listening to it in the car, and I liked some of it, and always appreciated her attitude.  So I wouldn't call myself a fan, but an appreciator of music and new experiences.

I feel like maybe I could have felt, if I was a die hard Miley Cyrus fan; like a pink Floyd fan (not old to have seen) buying a ticket to the pink Floyd light show thinking it was pink Floyd the band playing.

I flew up from nc for the weekend, rented a car, and I was actually stoked to both give my daughter this experience, but actually had listened to a lot of the new album and was excited to see it live.  Thinking how I thought of Madonna when I was a teenager (never seeing her, but appreciated her stage mastery and rebellious attitude) might be similar to what I think my daughters feel about Miley, at least for my 14 year old daughter.  But I was bringing the 7 year old.

And with the excitement came strep throat for the younger.  Missed two days of school,, and didnt really have it in her to go.  but dad and mom were quite persuasive, finally with a carrying of her out to the car, not happy at all.  You know a kid doesnt feel well when they don't want to go see someone they waited a month to see. But what to do, she was feeling better for sure after 2 days of meds, but not close to 100.  down the road she was a bit upset for a few minutes, and I told her if she still felt bad when we got there we would just sell the tickets and go home.

When we arrived, Mazzy said- isn't selling tickets illegal?

I don't think so.

I heard it is.  (here's my chance)

ok well maybe we should just go in.  In line she wanted to go back to the car.  Suddenly Miley shows up at the front entrance and the crowd goes wild with excitement.  I throw Mazzy on my shoulders so she can see.  the energy is hit.  Mazzy is ready to go inside. We go upstairs. I see no Miley Cyrus shirts, only tribecca shirt.  wtf I thought.

Then I discover, it is her film release showing, world premier.  I'm thinking about how much I paid for tickets to see a movie.   And there would be  a panel discussion after, but Mazzy only made about 5 min of the panel. Fact is I knew she should would probobaly sing a couple songs later- maybe, but that might not be for a while, Mazzy had enough.

Good thing they were airline miles and not cash.  I might be a little more upset, but really at this point I think it's hilarious.  I feel so duped, but just shows these days you have to read everything, i'm sure it says on my ticket somewhere it's the premier of a movie, and likely that's what all the fans who bought this knew she had a movie, but that's not what I thought I bought.

I have to wonder, Miley said she was inspired by "the Wall", by pink Floyd, which was my first introduction to music movies, and still one of my favourites.  Did anybody, when that movie came out mistake buying a ticket to see the movie thinking the band was playing? Ticket prices were way higher then ever should have been for a movie, they were considerably the same price I have seen pop star ticket prices go for.  Had I been a die hard fan, I might have known she had a movie of her new album, but I had no idea.

The moral of this story.... "Waldo, never buy a ticket"

This story reminds me of my purchase of the Entregra rv that I bought
